The Tip Servant
From VIRAL SPIRAL — A collection of poems by Sarah P. Ross

"Cackling Coronavirus"
Previous
Once a waiter dependent on gratuity
For now that way of living is gone.
I used to live fun on my personality
Now close contact is considered wrong.
Social distancing has destroyed my job
A joy of which Covid-19 did rob.
So now I have learned to deliver take-out
To smile and do this with no pout.
The people I deliver to are so very kind
All they want is to support me
and to finally unwind.
I don’t know if this business will survive
But I know that it makes me feel I’m alive.
I hope this pandemic will not destroy my game
Cause to be a tip servant is what I became.
