The Food Bank

From VIRAL SPIRAL — A collection of poems by Sarah P. Ross

A day’s work for a loaf of bread
First world hunger
Cry it’s time for the dead.
Covid-19 food lines
Miles are in sight
Children starving by the millions
No school for hunger to fight.
Farmers’ crops rotting
Work too low to compete
Crops left to die
When mankind’s in defeat.
Sighs come from the children
Hunger grinds them with pain
Parents strain from predictions
Uncertainty driving them insane.
Food first time rationed
U–S it’s not there
With nothing to eat
Thank God people care!
