Stay Home

From VIRAL SPIRAL — A collection of poems by Sarah P. Ross

Isolation due to Covid-19
Has altered our lives substantially.
A baby will die if it’s not held
No one’s touched me for weeks
I’m a nut in a shell.
Depression is the emotion for every hour
They drag by so slow, draining me of all power.
My hair is a mess, can’t go to the salon
Oh well, no one sees
Unless masked I leave home.
Today is the day I’m to celebrate
As I look out my window
For this once a year date.
To my surprise, as loved ones drive by
Tears come to my eyes
To hear their sweet cries.
It’s for them I stay in
This long quarantine
I’ll stay in to defeat Covid-19.
